Camp

Wow! Summer flew by.  I can hardly believe that summer is over, and the kids are back in school (as am I.)
We worked on some really cool projects including a full scale residential overhaul as well as a couple of commercial projects.  I'll try to upload some project pictures soon.

Now that we're heading into fall, I have some new projects, (for school and some real life ones too!)

This semester we will be participating in the Bernice Bienenstock Library Design Competition where we are designing an activity center for a camp in the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania.  The activity center will include an open space to accommodate 30 traditional and special needs children, a stage and dressing room, a prop storage room, nurse's office and two unisex restrooms.  A second floor will house the camp director as well as provide a conference room and office.  The second floor must utilize barrier-free components as well as incorporate some green or sustainable features.

In looking for some camping inspiration, I can't help but think of the cute and quirky Moonrise Kingdom.  Here's the trailer if you missed it.

And here are a few stills from some of my favorite scenes.

I spent many summers of my youth going to Camp Tekoa in Hendersonville, NC.  I have such fond memories and look forward to drawing on some of those as I create a space for these happy campers.

Did you spend summers at camp, and if so, what are some of your fondest memories?
